Agua Dulce 11-08

November 8th 2008
Another successful Chapter Run occurred Saturday. Participants started arriving around 8:30 am Plenty of beautiful old bikes to talk about while enjoying the humble residence of our host,  Larry Doane.  New members, old members and a few guests from the Wing Nuts MC and 4 Aces MC shop.    The pack of  15 to 20 bikes took the road around 10:30 am ,  We rode thru the high desert near Acton and had a fuel stop at the Lake Hughes,  Rock Cafe. The posted ride time was 10 am and it appeared all participants had arrived by that time.  No problems with the bikes and the weather were perfect.  There was some unfortunate miscommunication.  First problem was the run maps and instructions were not available to the run truck driver.  And the other problem was Flathead Fern and his wife arrived at Larry's @ 10:35, after the pack had left.  Fern was clever enough to meet everyone at Lake Hughes anyway.  He was on his big twin flathead. Very nice bike.  It even has a prototype swing arm frame, A very rare item.

At 12:30 we departed Lake Hughes to enjoy a leisurely ride thru Bouquet Canyon  back to Agua Dulce. The canyon ride was a little too leisurely for our special Guest from up North.  That would be the famous Richard Ostrander.  He needed to open up his gorgeous 1940 EL
knucklehead.   He led a group of the faster riders down thru the canyons at a rapid but safe clip.  That man can really ride.  And of course John Von Karvaly is no slouch.   The slower group was lead by Larry on his ancient VL.  It is slow but, generally reliable.

By 2pm all had returned to the ranch and were greeted by two young girls waving at the bikes.  These two are Larry's grand daughters.  They like to see the bikes and all the interesting people. The barbeque went well and everyone was fed.  Ice cream and pie for desert.

Our chapter wants to thank all participants for their contribution to make this a safe, enjoyable event.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the bikes and good company.  Special thanks to Wes and Flathead Jedd for coming by and showing off their bikes.
